Discraft ESP Malta
Discraft ESP Malta
The Malta has a low profile and pronounced bead for clean releases and consistently stable flights. The Malta’s name continues the greek mythology theme of the PM line derived from the greek word for Honey, which is fitting for this sweet disc! The first midrange in the Paul Mcbeth line up, the Malta! The Malta is the 4th disc in Paul’s line, bringing an overstable midrange into the mix.
Discraft gives the Malta a stability rating of 1.9

After the Hornet was "Out of Production" , I choose to replace my hornets by the Malta.
Well ... I still play Hornets !!
Malta is terrible in the wind. I think this disc is too much glidy and overturn with head wind.
However, I love the feeling in my hand, back hand or side arm. But this disc is definitively not as overstable as I needed.
Don't buy it if you want to throw an overstable disc over 75 meters.

The Malta is one of Discraft's biggest disappointments for me so far and the weakest representative of the Paul McBeth signature discs. I originally wanted to have it as an overstable midrange disc in my bag. However, I never warmed up to the disc. For one thing, it doesn't feel very good in the hand, and for another, I don't think it's nearly as overstable as its flight values would suggest. A positive turn of 1 and a fade of 3 actually suggest a very overstable disc that will always fade and is virtually impossible to get into the turn. The flight of the Malta was very unpredictable. With an already light headwind, the disc quickly got into the turn and showed virtually no fade at all. Discraft has so many good midrange discs, but the Malta is not one of the best in my eyes. In my eyes, the Buzzz OS is the much better choice as an overstable midrange. In addition, the price is higher due to the Paul McBeth line.

Feels realy great in Hand and looks super cool!
My technique isn't the best one but I can still release the disc smooth on backhand or put a lot of force on the disc. For me this disc wont turnover, it will always flex out at the end, which makes it a trustworthy overstable Midrange Driver.
The Flightnumbers however do not fit quiet right. For me its more of a 5,4.0,2.5 up to 5,4,0,3 (definitly more overstable than a EMAC Truth but less than a Pyro).
On Forehand the disc will flutter and get a lot of torque. It will still always fade out in the hand but just doesn't feel really smooth.
