My Flight Ratings 9/3/1/4 Terrible for Beginners

I don’t think you can find another driver that is more reliable than the CAP RAP.

It is always overstable and flies the same every time.

Perfect disc in the woods if you need to go around something.

I also use this for forehand rollers as it holds the line for long distance.

The Captain's Raptor is what the Raptor wanted to be. It is consistently overstable and has very low glide.

I bag both a Captain's Raptor and a normal beat in Raptor and they complement each other perfectly.

I use the Captain's Raptor for tight flex shots, spike hyzers and crazy skip shots. This thing will almost skip backwards if given enough spin.

The Special Blend Z plastic is fantastic. Quite a bit more grippy than regular Z. The Captain's Raptor is a little deeper than the normal Raptor which makes it more comfortable for backhand, but still works well for forehand.

All in all, a great disc for advanced players looking for something stupid overstable that is still controllable.

I picked up the Captain's Raptor after using the Raptor as my go-to forehand disc for a while. It works as a great overstable compliment to my Raptors.

The consistent overstability and low glide is great for controlling distance. I know that it won't go very far before it starts fading and digging into the ground.

I personally don't like to use it backhand - mainly due to how board flat it is.

For beginners it won't be much more than a utility disc, but that can be fine too. If you're new and looking for an overstable fairway driver, I suggest looking at a Raptor instead.

The Captain's Raptor is a Cert overstable fairwaydriver. A lot more Stanley than a regular Raptor. With some anhyzer you can get som distance bit it will always have a strong fade att the end. It is a great compliment to the normal Raptor. Would not say the disc is for slower armspeeds.

The Captains Raptor is absolute Money.

No matter how much anhyzer you'll give it, it will always fight out to a hyzer finish. It really shines on those must hit tight gaps in the woods, where you know you want that nice dependable fade and skip at the end.

You can also really power up on this disc and you can delay the fade a little bit and draw beautiful S- shapes with this disc.

It can also be used for short backhand drives and aggresive skip shots around tight corners. And if you throw spikehyzers with disc, you just know it will find the fastest why down and just stick where it landed.

I was actually going to buy another Raptor for field training, but then I couldn't get past the Captains Raptor due to all the hype on social media and decided to test it out based on several positive testimonials. To begin with, I find the price of course relatively high and would not recommend it to newcomers for that reason alone.
I expected the Captains Raptor to be made in Z plastic and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very similar to the Elite Z plastic that the Tour Series discs are made of. The plastic shows several sparkles and my disc in dark red is visually very appealing. The plastic is also very grippy overall, even in rain and cold temperatures.
The disc is overall very flat with no real dome and also has a very narrow rim which, at least on me, is very comfortable to hold. The shape is definitely similar to the Raptor. The shape of the disc can be used on the one hand to get nice skips at the end of the flight, and it is also perfect for spike hyzer without skip.
You don't get great distances, especially if you don't have a big arm like me, but that's not the purpose of the disc, because you have enough other alternatives for that. If you drop the Captains Raptor in the Hyzer, it holds it naturally and even in a strong headwind there is no chance of it flipping, which makes it very useful in strong winds. Dropped on an anhyzer angle, it always comes back reliably, which I use for forehand anhyzer casts in difficult situations.
Compared to other very overstable discs, such as the Flick or the Tilt, the Captains Raptor does not need to hide and is in my opinion the most everyday of the extreme discs.
All in all, I am very enthusiastic about the Captains Raptor. However, you should be aware that it is mainly designed as a utility disc and you will not achieve huge distances with it.
And yes, the name doesn't really excite me either, Discraft could have been more creative, but fortunately the name of a disc is only secondary ;)
