Innova Pig

The Pig features a Thumtrac® Rim for sure grips on sidearm throws and putts. It performs equally well for backhand or sidearm throws. The Pig is an overstable Putt & Approach disc. It is great for hyzer putting, sidearm approaches and backhand spikes. The Pig holds the line well, even in extreme wind conditions.

"The Pig is great for hyzer putting. It's predicable approach even in extreme wind conditions make the pig a must have disc for any skill level."

Innova have recently changed the flight numbers and category for the Pig and now has flight number 4 1 0 3 and is considered a midrange due to it's wider rim. But it's still a fantastic putt & approach disc no matter it's category and numbers.

R-Pro Pig, the War Pig-foil. This is a beefy boy, I love it for the forehand upshots, it fits great in hand! The plastic doesn't want to skip much so it's just a point and shoot.

It's for sure a very overstable disc and can be tough for beginners to like because it's hard to get it to go far but on the other hand this makes it very reliable.

The Innova Pig is one of Innova's best known and most popular discs, especially since it has been Ricky's signature disc for the last two years. At first I thought the Pig was a pure utility disc and that you would only need it for a very few casts. But when I played a round with the Pig in a strong wind, I was glad to have one in my bag. It says putter on the disc, but in the end I can't really recommend the Pig for putting. Its strength is definitely for approaching and upshots.
The speed of the disc is somewhere between a midrange and a putter. Its edge is a little wider than an Aviar or Luna for example, but still feels very good in the hand. In a strong headwind, you can throw the disc flat and hard into the headwind and be assured of a straight flight, with a slight fade at the end, without fear of overturfing the disc. You don't achieve a particularly long distance with the Pig, but you don't have to in my eyes. For me, it stops at about 70m. What is perfect for upshots is that the disc has virtually no skip and you can place it precisely and reliably at the basket. The R-Pro plastic is of course not the very best plastic, but for the purposes of the Pig fully sufficient and absolutely inexpensive.
The Pig is an excellent choice for intermediate to very good players in windy conditions, but also for beginners practicing a reliable and consistent forehand. Personally, I like the Pig overall, but find that in terms of feel in the hand, it doesn't come close to Discraft's Zone with a comparable flight, but with a bit more speed and a wider selection of different plastic types.

Grip with r-pro plastic is great in rainy and cold conditions. I love to put with this disc. I used to put with Latitude 64 Pure disc and wanted to change for Innova putter and this one suits me even better than the Pure.

My Flight Ratings 3/1/0/3 Terrible for Beginners

Ricky is saying it's the best, so I bought it. More seriously, I wanted to try something different than my pilot for my approach game. I wanted something extreme, so pig it was.

And boy, oh boy what a journey.

I hated it so much. I was a beginner, and I could barely thought it to 150ft. It was spiking so hard it was almost a grenade. But I insisted. Now I love it.

It fades hard, but that's what's good, once it touch the ground, it stays there. I've done some of my most beautiful approach with it.

I throw it forehand to flight very straight when I rip it. It takes all the power of the world.

The plastic and the thumbtrack feel amazing in the hand for a good release.

If you want something very fun, to make amazing shots it's the disc for you. The learning path can be long, but the destination is amazing.

If you are looking for the most comfortable feeling backhand and forehand for overstable approach shots , this disc is made for you !

I tried the Zone , the Tactic , the A2 , and no one was combining all my need as far as flight and comfort in the hand . The Pig does !

About the same flight as a Z Zone with a bit less glide witch make it more controlable , and the R-Pro plastic is top notch !

The overstable approach slot was occupied by the Zone for the past year and I decided to give the Pig a try after falling in love with the thumbtrack in my Berg. I haven't looked back.
The pig is slightly more overstable than my Zone, practically a overstable berg and it's so much more comfortable in my hand.

Zone is a great disc, but if you want to try something else with a similar flight but a very different feeling in the had, try the pig. It might be just what you're after.

Use this as an approach disc or for shots < 60m. Similar flight to the Discmania Tactic but with harder fade and while the Tactic stands up from a hyzer this one doesn't.

A really good backhand/forehand approach disc. It goes straight and fades in the end, I'd even say it goes way straighter then id expect with very little turn. The r-pro plastic is just one of innovas best feeling plastics!
