Discraft Zone

The Discraft Zone is the gold standard overstable approach disc. It can handle any power and fly straight with great hooking fade at the end. Perfect for approaching both backhand and forehand but also fantastic off the tee. While rarely used as a regular putting putter, the Zone handle headwind putts with ease should you need it! The Zone is beadless and low profile and vailable in a myriad of plastic options.

Discraft gives the Zone a stability rating of 2.0

The OG of approach and i bag 3 Zone in different plastic and will make a split review:

Z Swirl Tour Series 2025 - Great and reliable overstable. I use it for shorter upshort with a dumpy finish.

Confetti Zone - Longer upshots with a natural flex shape. Mostly forehand. Looks SICK! :D

ESP stock - Out of the box its flippy? It has a slight dome? I've asked people around my course if they have any comments on it... they tell me its kinda wierd. I still have a soft spot for it, but i use it for straight shot midrange (kinda like a Buzzz).

The zone , the original upshot disc.  Its just an amazing disc, works great both forehand and backhand. I mostly use it for short holes that fade right off the tee or upshots with the forehand. Its a great disc that i think everyone needs to try atleast one time. There is also so many plastics to choose from that you can pick the right stability and feel for you. the colorshift z were stable runs for sure. The new banger/ ringer zones have been the only ones more stable than this .

I have had my red z glo zone for 6 months now and it has been a fantastic workhorse for me, especially in a forhand both from tee on shorter par 3's or as an approach disc.

Flatness: 2 pretty flat

stifness: 2 pretty gummy

There is no better approach disc out there, toro is close, but I would chose a zone over a toro any day. I got one as a beginner, and I could not throw it at all. After becoming better I now love this disc so much. Mine is pretty beat in now, so it flies more straight with maybe a one fade at the end, but in the start it had good amount of fade. It feels great for baghand and forehand

This could very well be the perfect approach disc. I trust it wholeheartedly for that reliable fade whenever I need it for my upshots. The ESP plastic can be a bit slippery but it doesn't matter that much for the shorter distances I use it for. Otherwise it's a good hand feel and mine has a very flat top.

A true staple in the the disc golf world of discs! Can't recommend it enough.

This disc change my disc golf life!

I think after I got it, I gained 3-4 strokes pr round.

In my opinion it is one of the best discs on the market, and everyone should have it in the bag.
It is reliable on upshots, and I maybe there is a magnet in the disc, it always finds the basket.

I use it for forehand rollers as well, and it likes to roll :)

Zone was my first very overstable approach disc and now I can't imagine my bag without this disc. It is very predictable, fights the wind perfectly, feels great in hand for both backhand and forehand. On the course I use it mostly for backhand hyzer shots and all kind of forehands. Comparing to other discs in this category it files further and (for me) it's easier to throw flex shots.

If you are building your bag and can't decide which over stable putter test at first, I would recommend Zone.

One of my favourite discs in my bag. Overstable and very trustworthy. Good for touch upshots and does very well for bigger rips. Great feel for forehand,OK feel for backhand, just because I have pretty big hands.

When in doubt - forehand Zone!

Perfect approach disc! Soft in the plastic compared to Z or ESP, specially in THE Summer and heat. Prefers to throw approach with Flx Z than with Z / ESP which is more comfortable to operate with. Everyone should have at least one Zone in their bag!

In my opinion EVERYONE should bag a Zone or at least try it. This is both reliable and durable, which is perfect for an overstable approach disc! The Get Freaky Zone is also the best version of the Zone of those I've tried. In this plastic, it feels close to indestructable! The plastic is incredibly durable, grippy and gummy.
I use this disc for both forehand and backhand, but preferably forehand.

I would say this disc is beginner friendly as well, but it can be used by both pros and beginners as it suits all skill levels!

The quintessential overstable approach disc. The zone sits perfectly in the hand for forehands and is a great disc to flick towards the basket with a dependable fade. It is very torque resistant which means it beats in to be a straighter flier that can push a little longer than a brand new one.

The disc works nicely in the wind.

The Zone is the best approach disc I know. I have had a Zone in my bag since the first days and can't imagine a practice round, field training or tournament without it. So far I have tested the Z plastic, ESP, ESP-Flx, Cryztal-Flx and Big Z plastic. I prefer the Big Z plastic for forehand anhyzer and backhand hyzer approaches. Due to the low glide and the reliable fade of the disc, you can throw very precisely, whether in calm or in stronger winds. If you want to avoid larger skips, I go for the ESP-Flx disc, which is also very good in the hand and shows very little groundplay. The disc is both for beginners who want to practice forehand, as well as for advanced players a must have.

The 2020 tour series Zone is a great disc. It is more stable than all the other plastics I've tried including ESP, Z, and CryZtal FLX (brodie smith). Mine has a concave top and dumps very hard at the end of its flight making it my most reliable approach disc. I think this disc, in any plastic, is a decent beginner disc and learning to throw sidearm approaches with it is worthwhile. In this plastic, or at least my disc, it's more overstable than the numbers say and my flight ratings I think are more appropriate.
